Fifty years of Synchro and Cytobi: a history of GERnétic.

This year we are celebrating the 50th anniversary of the best nourishing creams ever created!

Using the science of Gerontology and Genetics, Synchro and Cytobi are perhaps the most advanced and active creams in the world of beauty and anti-ageing. So, why are these creams as formidable and still at the forefront of advanced skincare?

Read on to find out…

Where did it all begin?

In 1960, Dr Albert Laporte began his research in a Parisian hospital and developed his fundamental concept:

~ The percutaneous penetration and the ability of the skin to rebuild itself with essential elements accurately dosed.

Based on cellular biology, the creams Dr Laporte created were designed to address the cause, not just the symptom, which is why GERnétic has always had a true and original holisitic approach.

In 1970, 2 incredible, regenerating creams were developed, both of which were created to treat severely damaged, burnt skin. Synchro and Cytobi.

In 1977, the GERnétic brand was born.

How were these products created?

Dr Laporte carefully selected amino acids, polypeptides, proteins and other metabolic compounds, vitamins and trace elements. He discovered that when these are 100% extracted from organically grown plants and delivered deep into living cells, they enhance the health of the skin.

The creams were created using the scientific processes of phytobiology (the extraction of active components from plant) and biotechnology (fermentation to obtain active ingredients). Dr Laporte used a culture of lactobacillus casei, which is rich in lytic enzymes, sourced mainly from marine micro algae or from plant cells. This ensured the ingredients were extremely bioavailable, allowing them to penetrate deeply into the cells.

Synchro and Cytobi – the hero products

As mentioned earlier, Synchro and Cytobi were born out of research into healing severely damaged skin. The creams are extremely similar but do have some distinct benefits.

They are both highly regenerating creams. Synchro has the ability to balance and regulate skin functions and Cytobi is soothing and immunity building. Both creams are suited to all skin types and are serious nutrition for the skin. So, for people who have nutritional deficiencies and need it delivered transdermally, these creams are perfect! In fact, our Educators here at VP, refer to Synchro as chicken soup for the skin and to Cytobi as chicken soup plus a 30 minute meditation, a yin yoga session, a super green power juice, a multivitamin with added minerals and a reiki session!! Cytobi is especially good for recent damage and trauma to the skin.

Let’s take a closer look:

Synchro

Regenerative and nutritive, Synchro is the most important formula of the GERnétic range. It is able to balance skin functions, be it oiliness or dryness. It regenerates the epidermis cells and stimulates healthy cell turnover. Synchro is also anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial and has incredible healing properties. Originally developed for the treatment of skin burns, Synchro is the most effective cream you can use after a burn or scar or bruising. It is suitable for all skin types and all ages and can be used alone or in conjunction with any other cream. If you could only choose one GERnétic product, Synchro would be it!

Cytobi

Cytobi is an extraordinary cream, providing your skin with the ultimate defence against ageing. It is super nutritive and packed with essential amino acids, proteins, vitamins and trace elements, all of which are essential to a well-nourished skin. Cytobi boosts tissue regeneration and revitalisation, plus it can alleviate several skin disorders linked to inflammation. Its healing and calming actions make it ideal as an anti-inflammatory, and it also contains anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties.

The Foundations of GERnétic

7 years after these 2 amazing products were created, the GERnétic brand was born, in 1977. The foundation of GERnétic principles were way ahead of their time and continue to be on-trend today.

  • The sensory journey of essential oils and application on the feet to begin treatments – this signifies the grounding and calming of the sympathetic nervous system.
  • Inflammaging – the understanding that all kinds of inflammation cause ageing.
  • Skin microbiome – the need to keep the skin barrier intact.
  • Sleep – the state in which healing and growth factor production is occurring.
  • Emotional state – the intrinsic link between the body (gut), brain and skin
  • Cellular communication – discovering that without electrolyte balance, cells will not function correctly.
  • Corneotherapy – the need to keep the epidermis intact to ensure the skin’s defence and immune systems are not stimulated unnecessarily.
  • True holistic and homeopathic style.

As beauty professionals, you will come across skin that is severely inflamed, undernourished, prone to acne or other conditions, prematurely ageing or you will have clients who say that absolutely nothing works for their skin! These creams hold the key and of course, GERnétic has gone on to produce an array of other products that treat specific concerns.

Our very own Educator, Jemima Richards, gave an incredibly detailed, insightful presentation on Synchro and Cytobi, on which this blog is based. If you want to delve further, please click on the link to watch the recording – you will not be disappointed!
